Prashant, a 39-year-old man, and Soumya, a 34-year-old woman, have known each other for 4 years. They share an unusual bond. Prashant is a closet poet. Soumya, a baker, is the only one who knows and understands him completely.
Prashant is married to Nupur and has a 13-year-old daughter, Zooni. Nupur is a kind woman, a caring wife and mother. Prashant and Nupur have a smooth married life, but they don’t connect intellectually. Prashant is creatively inclined, while Nupur is always engaged in the daily humdrum activities. He often finds himself unable to communicate with her, not because she wouldn’t listen, but because she wouldn’t be able to understand, even if she were to try.
Soumya is married to Jeet, a pilot, and has a 4-year-old son, Amitoj, from the marriage. Soumya and Jeet are much in love; however, Jeet’s love frequently takes him to levels of obsession, making Soumya feel suffocated. Her friendship with Prashant gives her a sense of freedom and comfort wherein she can just be herself, without any obligations and need for explanations.
Prashant and Soumya fill a void in each other’s lives. They go for long walks, for poetry readings, plays, art exhibitions. They can talk for hours without sensing the time going by. Even though they feel deeply for each other, their relationship never becomes a sexual one. Yet, they keep their friendship a secret, particularly because Soumya is afraid that Jeet would not understand their relationship.
